Moog Acid

For the "Moog Acid"packaging we decided to try and create a contemporary custom typeface "that would celebrate the 'Space Age' period of the late-60s and early-70s when the Moog synthesizers first came to "prominence; A typeface that would be"reminiscent" of typefaces from the period but one that would morph and fluctuate between extremes. The ultra thin lines swelling into curvaceously "fluid bold shapes and a distinctive teardrop motif."
To underline the period feel we employed a 'default style' typography for the body text and usedÊphotographs of "especially commissioned "miniature models of the type of classic Moog "synthesizersÊthat were used to create "Perrey & Vibert's unique sound recordings." The whole composition then"came together in the form of that most classic of music packaging formats: the gatefold sleeve.

Non-Format is aÊcreative team comprising Kjell Ekhorn (Norwegian) and Jon Forss (British). They work on a range of projects including art direction, design and illustration for music industry, arts & culture, fashion and advertising clients. They also art direct Varoom: the journal of illustration and made images.ÊPast awards includes a D&AD Yellow Pencil in 2007, Tokyo TDC Non Members Prize and New York TDC Award Of Excellence in 2006.ÊA hardback monograph entitled Non-FormatÊLove Song was publishedÊby Die Gestalten Verlag in June 2007.ÊNon-Format is based in London, UK and Minneapolis, USA.
