		"The 10 Morisawa Posters" Over the past few years there has been an endless stream of new tools for visual effects on the computer. This trend will naturally continue because visual impact is always at a premium. A "digital typography experiment" is not hard to come by; it can usually be characterized as being complex and difficult to read. The next challenge is to use computers to improve the legibility and quality of typographic documents. Before embarking on this task, I wanted to establish a standard in digital typography. I created this series of ten posters as a message to young designers to have optimism for the future of design in the next century. Thank you for this opportunity.		John Maeda Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Graduated MIT in '89, S.M and S.B. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. After year at the MIT Media Lab., Joined International Media Research Foundation in '90. Research area in Graphical user interface design, focusing on issues of traditional design in the digital age. Entered Doctoral Program in Art and Design, Tsukuba University in '92, dissertation on the taxonomy and use of interactive visual languages to develop new expressive possibilities. Established Aesthetics & Computation Group in MIT in 96 engaging in producing interface design not only for communicative means but also for aesthetic needs.
