-18-30 July at Tokyo Central Museum of Art: The second exhibition, "Passionate Asia and Her 89 Typodirectors"
It was the first largescale exhibition in which the main theme was Asia. The show revealed a wealth of superb calligraphy and a variety of other artworks by members,especially new artworks reflecting the Asia theme. Additionally, everyday objects such as newspapers, tectbooks and packages from various Asian countries were on display. The feature exhibit was recent typographical artworks by Katsumi Asaba, which consisted of 22 different types of Asian characters.

1987 -17-22 December at Seed Hall: The first Tokyo TDC exhibition
The opening date of the exhibition, 17th of December, 1987 was to mark the foundation of the Tokyo Type Directors Club. A selection of typographic works created by the foundation members was exhibited. The centerpiece of the show was a huge painting by Noriyuki Tanaka and Katsuya Ise, in which the latest poems by Shuntaro Tanigawa and takashi Tsujii were written.
